my philosophy is
WE LIBERATE OURSELVES.
Join me on the path to anti-racist, anti-capitalist, sex positive liberation…by any means!
A mentor gave me the perfect word to describe myself: enigma.
My passion for examing the world around me through visual culture has led me into the field of marketing and branding over the past 7 years. I have brought a discerning and critical lens to my work across the arts, hospitality, wellness, and sports industries. Day-to-day I lead brand marketing efforts at a non-profit where I get to help and inspire people through running. This has made me a bit of a runner these days myself, and I volunteer weekly with Harlem Run as a Co-Captain.
I am a third generation Caribbean American born and raised on Lenape land in NYC. My practices are informed by an intersectional lens dedicated to collective liberation. This comes into fruition across all my multi-hyphenate work as an artist, death doula, meditation guide, and more.
As a certified professional mindfulness meditation teacher my work was recognized by the International Mindfulness Teachers Association with 500hrs of Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher Trainings. I have studied Buddhist mindfulness with Kimberly Brown, Manaslu Gurung, and Mona Chopra from the Interdependence Project. I have also delved into compassion studies with Scott Tusa, Pooja Amy Shah M.D., and Megan Mook at the Nalanda Institute’s collaboration with The Path. I attended the New York Zen Center’s Foundations in Contemplative Care program led by Senseis Robert Chodo Campbell, Koshin Paley Ellison, and Zenju Earthlyn Manuel. I’m currently a Founding Teacher with GaneshSpace, an organization dedicated to sharing social justice informed mindfulness practices.
My project, Liberating Death, was developed at UPAYA’s Socially Engaged Buddhist training program and as a fellow with the Interfaith Center of New York’s Interfaith Civic Leadership Academy. Death awareness is a big part of what I do and I’ve studied the science and psychology of death at the Art of Dying Institute and CUNY City College’s Psychology department. I have also completed death doula trainings with Going with Grace and INELDA and was part of INELDA’s Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Advisory Council.
I’m a lover of pilgrimages and have traveled across the world solo. My favorite spiritual journey has been completing the 516 mile hike from St. Jean-Pied-de-Port to Finisterre as part of the Camino de Santiago. One day I hope to embark on the Shikoku Henro and Kumano Kodo pilgrimages.
You’ll most likely find me planning a run, checking out some really weird art on my downtime or hopefully making really weird art in my studio. I am excited to share my studies of visual perception, ritual, and meditation with you. Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter, Everyday Acts of Endurance.
